Last month, we received a call to assist with a rather shocking rescue.

A report came in about a cat stranded high on top of an electric pole in Ross County. The situation was dangerous — both for the cat and anyone attempting to rescue her.

With help from community partners, including Fayette Regional Humane Society humane agents, the Ross County Humane Society team, and American Electric Power, which provided the equipment and procedures to keep all involved safe, the frightened cat was brought down from the pole and placed in our care.

Our team named her Electra, a fitting name for a cat whose rescue began in such an unexpected place.

After a careful examination, we were relieved to find that this daring girl was in good health despite her high-voltage adventure. We kept her under observation for a short time to ensure she continued to do well after her dramatic rescue.

Once Electra cleared her medical hold, she was scheduled for her spay surgery, and now she’s ready for her next chapter.

That’s right — Electra is officially available for adoption! Come for a visit and see if she electrifies you. 🙂

Because of you, animals like Electra have somewhere to go when the unexpected happens. Your support makes rescues like this possible and ensures that even the most unusual situations can end in safety, care, and hope. And we can never thank you enough for that gift.
