Humane Law Enforcement
The Fayette Regional Humane Society is the only organization in Fayette and Ross Counties responsible for enforcing animal cruelty laws in the state of Ohio. The Humane Society employs two trained and certified Humane Agents who are available 24/7 to respond to calls about abused, neglected, injured, or abandoned domestic animals. The Humane Agents will take steps to rectify any abuse or neglect, from issuing warnings to filing charges. Adoptions
The Humane Society adoption program finds homes for nearly 2,000 kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs each year. The FRHS has a live release rate of over 90%, meaning that nearly every animal who enters the adoption program finds their forever home.
The Greg Denton Animal Wellness Center
The Greg Denton Animal Wellness Center provides high-quality, low-cost medical and surgical care for pets in our community. Our medical clinic welcomes both sick and well animals, offering comprehensive wellness services including routine vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm testing, and heartworm prevention.
Care is provided by Dr. Lee Schrader, a veterinarian with 46 years of experience who is board-certified in internal medicine. The clinic is equipped to diagnose and treat, with services including radiographs, ultrasound, blood testing, and cytology. Flea and tick prevention products are also available for purchase on-site.
Surgical services at the Greg Denton Animal Wellness Center are performed by Dr. Jessica Shelby, a highly experienced veterinarian specializing in high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter surgery. Dr. Shelby has more than 15 years of experience performing spay/neuter procedures in shelter settings.
She is assisted by Danyel Honicker-Bageant, RVT, a registered veterinary technician with more than 20 years of experience and extensive expertise in surgical assistance. Bobbi Honicker-Bageant, a fourth-year veterinary technician student, also assists with surgical care.

PAL (Preventing Another Litter)
The FRHS will spay and neuter the parents of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. The entire litter is released to us to be entered into our adoption program, where they will find their forever homes. The puppy program is free, the kitten program has a small cost.
Operation Cat Snip
Operation Cat Snip is a trap, neuter, return program which offers an alternative to euthanasia for community cats. These stray or feral cats are spayed or neutered and returned to their homes in the community.
