When Tyke was found, he was just a little fluffball with a very big injury.
A kind stranger noticed the tiny kitten limping badly and reached out for help. At first glance, it looked like Tyke had been bitten by something. His shoulder was swollen, painful, and infected, and he held his little front paw up in the air because putting weight on it hurt too much (left above).
Once Tyke was safely in our care, we discovered the damage was even worse than it appeared. The bite had caused a serious shoulder injury and fractured bone (middle above), along with a painful abscess that needed immediate treatment.
But through it all, Tyke never stopped being sweet.
Even while injured, he was curious and affectionate. As the swelling went down and his shoulder began to heal, more and more of his kitten personality started shining through. Soon, the tiny guy who could barely put weight on his paw was bouncing around with the exact amount of playfulness a healthy kitten should.
Today, Tyke is living the good life with a family of his own and a warm bed (right above), a full belly, and toys to chase.
Not long ago, he was a hurting little kitten trying to survive with a serious injury.
Now, he’s somebody’s baby.
That kind of transformation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people like you choose to care.
And for Tyke, that made all the difference.
