Love Stories, February, 2026

3

This month, we’re doing things a little differently.

Instead of sharing just one love story, we’re bringing you updates on three of our most memorable rescue stories from last year, the ones that arrived scared, sick, or barely hanging on.

Because your love is what changed everything.

Your love is what rescued them.
Your love is what gave them healing, hope, and a home.
Your love is what saved them.

And today, we want to show you exactly what that love looks like now.

🐾 Oreo — From Fragile to Family

That was then: Oreo arrived as a tiny kitten who seemed mostly healthy, with just a little cold. But beneath the surface, he was starting a hard fight against pneumonia. For several days, it was touch-and-go with Oreo receiving antibiotic injections and frequent nebulizer treatments to help him breathe.

This is now: Oreo is healthy, adored, and spending his days snuggled up with his new favorite human – the family’s brand-new baby (photo above). From fighting for every breath to loving his new role as big brother, Oreo is right where he belongs.

This is what love looks like.

🐾 Cheerio — From Abandoned to Adored

That was then: Cheerio arrived with burns on his head, face, hind end, and hind legs.  He had a severe upper respiratory infection with blood coming from his nose and eyes. We truly thought he wouldn't make it through the first night.

This is now: After making a miraculous recovery, Cheerio, now known as Cereal, was adopted into a loving home. Recently, he was caught on camera reading his own cover story in our newsletter (photo above). He’s cherished, spoiled, and clearly very well-read.

This is what love looks like.

🐾 Rooty — From Scrappy to Sweetie

That was then: Rooty came to us scared, defensive, and making it very clear he wanted nothing to do with anyone. He was a tough little guy who learned the world wasn’t always kind, so he growled, snapped, and kept everyone at arm’s length. But with patience and consistency, our in-house dog whisperer, DeLaine, slowly showed Rooty how to love again.

This is now: Rooty has completely blossomed. He's living with his mom, soaking up love, affection, and all the comforts of home (photo above), and showing just how sweet he truly is. From a scared little scrapper to a devoted companion, Rooty is living his best life.

This is what love looks like.

So this February, we just wanted to say: THANK YOU

For every purr or gentle lick, every second chance, every happily ever after — you’re the reason they made it.

Love looks like this. And it looks a lot like YOU.
